Sunday Ride & a wet one

Our plan was to ride over to the west, through Snetisham and on out to the coast.
The forecast was for a few light showers - well that was total rubbish!
Our route took us from Binham and down to Wighton , then into the Walsinghams.
Walsingham High Street
There was a major Pilgrimage going on and hordes of Asian Catholics were descending upon the Chapel at Houghton St Giles for the "Tamil Two Pilgrimage" There was even a one way system set up so we took the track past all the wild flowers.

For reasons best known to me , we went a bit wrong and ended up going via Tattersett.
Having got back on the right route , the heavens opened and it absolutely chucked it down.
We stopped for a while in some trees to shelter for a while and got rather wet. We decided that it looked likely to continue to rain so decided not to go on to the coast but to head to Syderstone and then back via a Tea stop at Creake Abbey.
It was not too long before it stopped raining and the sun came out! The great British Summer !
The caped crusader , complete with helmet hair!

After tea and a sneaky sandwich at Creake Abbey , we headed on to the Burnhams and even managed an ice cream sat in the Sun at Burnham Market.

We headed back to Binham via Whighton with a few spots of rain as we finished the 38 mile ride.
We plan to do the ride to the Coast next weekend!

Monday Ride and new distance record for Jane 6th July 2015

Having had Seth and Finlay for the weekend, ( which was nice!) we had decided to have Monday & Tuesday off work and hopefully do the Binham to Happisburgh ride we had planned the previous weekend but not done due to the weather being so horrid.
The weather on Saturday had been really pleasant and Sunday had been wet and dull so we had great expectations for a decent weather day on Monday!
note the colours .
Having taken the Dogs for a walk we set off ay 10:30, stopping of at Howells Superstore to stock up on sweets and get batteries for Jane's computer.
the rather spooky remains of a  Church between Hunworth & Edgefield.
The weather was ideal , sunny , with a bit of a breeze. We clocked up the miles quite easily , and were soon in Hunworth and heading on towards Edgefield but I took a wrong turn and we went via Edgefield Street and then west instead of east! Probably added an extra 8 miles onto our day..... oops!

One of the finest Village signs we have seen so far!
( Have started a Pinterest Board for Village signs)
Our route took us around Aylsham and on part of the Weavers way before arriving in North Walsham
and we then wiggled through some "new" Villages as we made our way to Happisburgh.

On reaching Happisburgh we were ready for a cup of Tea ...... but the Cafe was shut. Managed to get some useful  info from a Local on a bike ( he used to work for Sands Agricultural Machinery ..... ) and we headed along the costal path to Cart Gap and the Cafe there for a take away cuppa which we took to the beach and had our picnic there.
The Garage of a House right on the cliff edge, the House has already gone over the edge and into the sea!
Erosion of the cliffs at Happisburgh.

The beach at Cart Gap was very pleasant and there were a few hardy souls having a swim and enjoying the sunshine.
We set off for the return journey, having already done 45 miles it was clear we were going to clock up a high milage for the day!

We went through a number of "new" Villages including Ingworth before returning to more normal territory. By the time we reached Holt , we were ready for some fuel.... Jane a Mars and me a Double Decker!
We got back to Binham having covered 77 miles ( 125 km ) , a really good ride. Quick turn around and off to the Pub for Monday Madness meal at £5.00 !

Sunday 28 June

After a really sunny day on Saturday we woke to a damp Sunday. Managed to get the Dogs out for a walk in the dry but decided to delay our bike ride as it rained hard for the next 2 Hours !

We had planned to have a long ride to Happisburgh but with the delayed start , we just had a pootle around the lanes : Bale , Sharringon , Thornage , Hunworth, Holt and back via Glandford.
Nice ride of 25 miles.

Dogs decided to take it eásy.

Sunday 14 the June

Having managed to put my back out bending over to pick up a hose at work on Friday morning there was no cycling this week end. So it was Holt on Saturday for haircuts & shopping. Sunday , managed a bit of bike fetling and then we want to Heydon for the Village open Gardens event. A very interesting Village with some lovely gardens. Almost had a fudle feeling about it.
In one garden there was an amazing Gunera in a big garden.

There was also some vintage cars on display.

The grounds of Heydon Hall were also open ( an extra £3.00 each ) very extensive surrounding the somewhat spooky Hall.
